Ministry of Trade: 11% increase in the value of Egyptian non-oil exports

Nevin Jameh, Minister of Trade and Industry, announced that Egyptian non-oil exports achieved a tangible increase of 11% during the first 4 months of 2021, reaching 9 billion and 800 million dollars, compared to about 8 billion and 853 million dollars during the same period of 2020, noting that this increase It came despite the current conditions related to the Coronavirus crisis afflicting the whole world, thanks to the efforts made by the government to support the productive and export sectors during the crisis, which contributed to the continued rotation of the wheel of production and the preservation of export markets.

 

The minister said that Egyptian imports also witnessed a slight increase by 5%, reaching 23 billion and 130 million dollars, compared to 21 billion and 975 million dollars during the same period last year.

 

For his part, Eng. Ismail Gaber, President of the General Organization for Export and Import Control, explained that the largest sectors that acquired the list of Egyptian exports during the first 4 months of this year included the medical industries sector with a value of $ 236 million compared to $ 148 million during the same period last year, with an increase of Its percentage is 60%, the handicraft sector with a value of $ 93 million compared to $ 61 million, an increase of 53%, the engineering industries sector with a value of $ 969 million compared to $ 655 million, an increase of 48%, and the leather and shoe industry with a value of $ 28 million compared to $ 20 million An increase of 40% and the ready-to-wear sector with a value of $ 586 million, compared to $ 433 million, an increase of 35%.

 

The head of the General Organization for Export and Import Control added that there are 5 countries whose markets account for 30.1% of total Egyptian exports, including the United States of America with a value of 676 million dollars, Turkey with a value of 651 million dollars, Saudi Arabia with a value of 633 million dollars, Italy with a value of 586 million dollars, and Malta with a value of 406 million dollars. .

 

On the most important exporting countries to the Egyptian market, Jaber pointed out that there are 5 countries that accounted for 41.2% of the total Egyptian imports abroad, including China with a value of 4 billion and 109 million dollars, the United States with a value of 2 billion and 98 million dollars, Germany with a value of one billion and 345 million dollars, and the Russian Federation with a value of one billion and 118 million dollars. And Italy, worth $ 877 million.
