Malta announces that it has reached the herd immunity against infection with the emerging corona virus

Malta's Deputy Prime Minister Chris Vern announced today (Monday) that his country was able to achieve the immunity of its citizens and give them the vaccine against infection with the emerging corona virus (Covid-19).

"Today we have achieved herd immunity ... the vaccine is the weapon against the virus," Vern said - at a press conference, according to the British "Sky News" network.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Malta added that the restrictions imposed on wearing protective masks will be lifted from next July, if the rate of HIV infections continues to decrease.

The network indicated that 70% of the inhabitants of the island of Malta have received the first dose of the vaccine against the virus, while 42% have received the two doses of the vaccine so far, noting that citizens between the ages of 16 and 29 years are currently invited to receive the vaccine.
