A 6.4-magnitude earthquake strikes southwestern China, without news of casualties

An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale hit Yunnan Province, southwest China, without immediate news of casualties or material losses.


The China Seismological Network Center said in a statement on Friday that the earthquake was detected at a depth of 8 kilometers in Yangbei Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province at 9:48 pm (Beijing time).
