The Humanitarian Aid Commission in Blue Nile State (in southern Sudan) announced the return of more than 170,000 displaced people and 12,800 Sudanese refugees from Ethiopia to their areas by the end of 2020.
The UNHCR indicated that more than 600 Ethiopian refugees crossed this week to the state, where they were received in the "Yabjar" area of the "Wad Al-Mahi" locality in the Blue Nile.
In a meeting held yesterday, Wednesday, by the government of Blue Nile State with a delegation from "UNICEF", Ibrahim Moussa, representative of the Humanitarian Aid Commission in Blue Nile, praised the efforts made by the partner organizations and their interventions in various fields.
He said that those organizations contributed to the distribution of aid for the returning displaced persons, which included 54,000 returnees in "Qaisan" locality, 74,000 in "Dalmahi" locality, and more than 37,000 in "Oulu" in "Baw" locality, pointing out that expectations indicate an increase in Sudanese returnee flows. In the coming period, in light of the establishment of peace and stability in the Blue Nile State.
