Today ... the COMESA Business Council is organizing a dialogue on digital financial inclusion



The COMESA Business Council (or Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa), in partnership with the Bank of Trade and Development for Eastern and Southern Africa, is organizing the COMESA High-Level Public-Private Dialogue on Digital Financial Inclusion, on January 20 in Kigali, Rwanda according to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology website.

 

The dialogue will be held under the slogan "Towards an Integrated Digital COMESA Shared Payment Policy for MSMEs", and highlights the development of a joint COMESA digital payment policy for sale at a reduced value.

 

And COMESA, the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa, is a preferential trade area that extends from Libya to Zimbabwe, and includes nineteen member states.

 

According to reports dating back to the origins of COMESA in 1994, instead of the preferential trade area in place since 1981. Nine countries established a free trade area in 2000 (Egypt, Djibouti, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Sudan, Zambia, Zimbabwe), and Rwanda joined Burundi and the Free Trade Zone joined the free trade zone in 2004, and Libya and Comoros joined in 2006.
